After getting a degree in Architecture from University, I had no idea what I wanted to do other than being sure I didn't want to be an architect!I went back to the drawing board looking at the wider skills I had gained from my degree, as well as really thinking about what I enjoyed- people, numbers & being challenged. I had also set my sights on London being the city I wanted to be in.
I got my first job in Procurement for a small restaurant company which gave me the taste for knowing that I was on the right lines. After a year, I realised the company wasn't big enough for me to really gain the experience I needed so I applied to join the Tesco Graduate Buying Scheme. Tesco was the step change- I loved retail, I got excellent support and training and worked from Video Games over to Skincare on Beauty- but after 5 and a half years I wanted to switch sides and work manufacturer side in Sales, utilising the invaluable buying experience I had gained.
I have been in P&G now for 3 and a half years working in both Category Development & Commercial roles and love it. It has variety, breadth, stretch & reward- which is exactly what I wanted from a career. I work with the best, which means I bring my best & learn from the best. I believe the success I have achieved across my roles in sales has been driven by always learning from others (something that I will never stop doing), constantly raising the bar for myself , being resilient and not being afraid of change; being adaptable is key in order to be ahead of the game an ever dynamic market. Oh, but the most important reason for being able to do all of those things is to always making sure I'm having fun whilst doing them.
