With the constant pressure of rising costs it comes as no surprise to hear that Google searches for food banks near me have seen a 39% increase, with some places in the UK hitting a whopping 64% increase on 2021 figures!

The data from Google was presented at this year’s Convenience Conference, and just goes to highlight even more how the cost of living crisis is affecting UK families who are struggling to feed themselves and after a 70% of food bank providers admitted to having to turn people away, there is a feeling of uncertainty over this winter.

”Three-quarters of the 9,500 charities FareShare supports have told us that they’re seeing an increased need for our redistributed food due to the cost of living crisis. That’s on top of demand during the pandemic.”- Food poverty charity FareShare

“When even food banks are warning they may need to shut up shop this winter because they can’t meet the demand, we know the country is heading for a catastrophe without action.”
- Shadow  work and pensions secretary
Jonathan Ashworth

However, it’s not all doom and gloom as sales for products such as Ice Cream, sweets and takeaway coffee has seen an increase throughout August, It’s always good to see that even in the face of uncertainty, us Brits can still take some time to enjoy the finer things in life…a nice ice cream by the beach.
