Marks and Spencer have just launched a new vegetarian range simply titled “Veggie” in response to growing consumer demand.

Just in time for Vegetarian week starting October 1st, the new range is said to include a huge 14 different delicious meals including Risotto and Ravioli dishes, all created by their own expert in-house chefs..

The moves comes after a survey revealed that over 60% of its consumers were unhappy about the lack of options available to vegetarians in both supermarkets and restaurants alike, whilst almost half said there were more vegan specific options than those who just prefer the more veggie lifestyle.

“Many vegetarians, myself included, know all too well how it feels to look at a restaurant menu or supermarket shelves and only see a handful of meat-free options, most of which are vegan, and rarely anything that celebrates vegetables. Our brand-new Veggie range more than meets that need and is the perfect solution for this overlooked group of foodies who want delicious, modern dishes packed with vegetables and with eggs, dairy and cheese too.

“From comforting mains for one to sharing centrepieces and all-important sides, this range is ideal for work lunches, midweek dinners, weekend entertaining and more." - Sharry Cramond, lifelong vegetarian and director of marketing & hospitality at M&S,

The new range shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to many after the luxurious retailer has been running the Sparking Change challenge, which is designed to help customers to eat healthier and more affordable food,  a part of this looked to encourage them to also explore plant-based protein.
