The Covid-19 pandemic hasn't been all that great in many regards but there has in fact been many positives that have come out of this pandemic! I strongly feel that we all need a bit of a pick-me-up so today let's go over all the good things that have come out of this pandemic!
Appreciation for local fresh!
In recent years, big retailers like Tesco and Sainsbury's have had the edge over local supermarkets, butchers and bakeries etc. But since the pandemic hit the people have been screaming for fresh, local produce! What an amazing time to be specialising in precisely that! Many bakeries and butchers have been reporting that they have been making a lot more money from in store sales during the pandemic, but typically less being delivered to larger stores.
The Earth is healing!
With fewer cars on the road, hardly any planes in the sky and less people to litter the streets, our world is starting to heal itself. India is known for being one of the most polluted places in the world and the air there is a near constant haze of smoke. For the first time in decades, the air is so clear that you can now see the Himalayan mountains in parts of India. In Venice, the waterways which are usually cloudy with sediment from the many boats passing through, are now clear too. Many retailers are also taking steps to reduce waste by committing to eco-friendly ways forward in the light of Greenpeace findings!

Learning the importance of personal hygiene
Some people clearly did not care enough about hygiene before (we all know someone). Not that most people weren't aware of it before, but hygiene isn't something that is always at the forefront of your mind. When you stop to think about how many people have potentially touched that self-service touch screen or how many people have held that same pole on the bus, it seems obvious that we should all be washing our hands more. And luckily thanks to this pandemic, a lot more people will be focusing on well-practiced and well-maintained hygiene rituals. Businesses are also making huge leaps in workplace hygiene! Fantastic news for anyone who before thought that their workplace needed an update and a good clean!
Socialising at a distance!
It seems that now that we cannot see people regularly, we want to see them more than ever before. Even people we hardly ever spoke to, we are now making efforts to text and call them to catch up! Now that staying in is the new going out, some have taken to dressing up for their weekly video chats. The joys of this kind of socialising is that you can wear something fancy on your top half with some joggers and furry slippers on your bottom half, and no one need know.
